Vintage sterling silver watch pendant circa 1950's by Navajo artist Kee Joe Benally Jr. (1936-2014). He was named Arizona Living Treasure in 2004. He began working in the 1950's and was famous for inlay and boxes among other things. The hallmark inside the watch reads W - IHM - S/S KJB. The pendant was created for Woodward's Indian Shop, which began in the 1940's. The full signature stands for W (Woodward's) IHM (Indian Handmade) S/S (Sterling silver) KJB (Kee Joe Benally Jr.)
The watch pendant is beautifully inlaid with Blue Gem turquoise in sterling silver with a secure open and close hinge and deep, precise stamp work on the reverse side. The pendant is hung on a handmade sterling silver chain with handmade clasp. You can put any watch you like inside!
