Much has been written about The United Indian Traders Association (UITA) which was officially established in 1931 for the expressed purpose of authentication of 'Indian' crafts. The organization was incorporated as a non-profit in New Mexico with the support of a number of traders.
The UITA strongly supported the FTC's prosecution of companies for using false advertising and for other misleading practices.
This pin, marked UITA 22 was the designated number assigned to Dean Kirk Trading Post in Manuelito, NM.
Pin is sterling silver with Sleeping Beauty turquoise eyes.
